Located in the heart of Jarnac, A. E. Dor is renowned for its ability to source and produce some of the finest Cognacs in the region. It all began with Amédée-Edouard Dor, the eldest son of a noble Cognac family, who set out to amass the greatest collection of Cognacs in France in 1858. Scouring the region from the boutique to the giant Cognac houses, he soon gained a reputation that was rewarded with access to Cognacs that had never been seen or tasted before.
Dor was a proponent of decanting the Cognacs into wax-sealed glass demijohns in order to preserve the profile he loved so that future generations could enjoy and experience his lifelong work. Today, you can see many of those vessels resting in The Paradis, which has remained unchanged for over 200 years. A. E. Dor maintains a high-quality control standard regarding its selection of grape varieties, terroir, and various crus within the Cognac region, as well as the choice of cellaring conditions. Each cellar is chosen for its particular level of humidity, a factor that A.E. Dor himself felt was a fundamental determinant of the Cognac's style and quality.
