Hubert
Made by Michel Hubert on his farm in the Pay D'age les Vergers de la Moriniere county, Hubert Calvados Pays d’Auge 2002 is a sweet calvados made with no fewer than 15 apple varieties, as well as a handful of pears. This single-vintage expression has been aged in oak barrels to amp up the levels of complexity. Tasty.
Bursting with apples (obvs) and a refreshing greenness, along with hints of vanilla, cinnamon and caramel. There’s the oak maturation influence on the nose, too.
A real gem, my wife says it is the best she has tasted in the UK, I agree with her.
A good steak, a cohiba cigar, and a glass of this.... a pretty good day. yes lots of fruit, but not the shouting type, a refined bowl full , and a nice finish. At 19 years i'm not sure if it qualifies as aged, but its graduated and on its way to a masters.
