VSOP Calvados from the incredible Christian Drouin range, which enjoys a double distillation before being set aside for a slumber in 225-litre ex-wine casks. Calvados makes for a marvellous postprandial tipple alternative, boasting familiar warming oak notes alongside vibrant apple brightness. Not only that, it can also be put to good use in cocktails if you fancy something a bit different.
Cooked apple and pear, with a zesty hint of green apple sharpness. Soft cinnamon and nutmeg spiciness and touches of freshly cut cedar.
I'm a little underwhelmed. It's good, but I was expecting a greater depth to it.
I've tried a variety of calvados offerings from Masters of Malt at various pricing from £35 - £85. All good but this one stands out for me. Will get this again.
