Christian Drouin's Experimental Calvados collection is full of exciting treats for spirits aficionados, including this – a Calvados finished in Chichibu Japanese whisky casks! The blend of 12-year-old Pays d'Auge Calvados spent its final four to ten months in a selection of five Chichibu casks, bringing a malty, cereal backbone to the zesty citrus, rich oak, and crisp apple at its core.
On the nose, aromas of roasted apple and quince jam then evolve into notes of precious wood and powdered cereals. The palate is intense, chiselled, and balanced between notes of barley husk, apple skin and citrus.
