If Avallen's light and delicious Calvados wasn't great enough already, the brand have only gone and put it in a paper bottle! Yep, no glass here. Lighter than glass and with the carbon footprint of each bottle six times lower than glass bottles, these bottles are made from recycled paper and house a food grade pouch filled with Calvados. And speaking of Calvados, Avallen is made without sugar, caramel or boisé (a wood extract sometimes used to add colour to Calvados) – literally just good old apples and water – before it’s aged in French oak barrels for at least two years.
From the packaging to the quality of the liquid, everything about this product is sensational. It’s an approach to spirits that is the future. I can’t recommend this product enough. Try it with tonic and a slice of apple for garnish. Super refreshing and delicious.
Introduced to Avallen via a bartender friend who’s all about his sustainability. Tried this B:Corp brand via their “Avallen and Tonic” gift pack, but after sharing this beautiful crisp and fresh apple flavour, G&T replacement, serve, I decided to treat myself to a full size bottle!
