Brown Drink (Batch 4)

Egad! It's Brown Drink Version 4.0! Confused? Well let us explain the unique provenance of this startling libation, which has come into being all by itself despite a lack of intelligent design...

In the beginning, there was an idea to turn full-sized bottles of whisky into 3cl samples. This meant that whisky lovers could try all kinds of malts and other fine spirits without having to shell out on the whole bottle first (to try before buying if you will). A bottle of whisky is 70cl, so we can make 23 little 3cl drams and there’s a little extra left over. The question is: what do we do with what was left over? We can't feed it to the Colobus monkeys; that would be cruel! So, we decided to pour all the surplus yumminess into one almighty carboy, and tried it only to find, astonishingly, it was actually really rather good. The first batch of "Brown Drink" sold out pretty quickly, as did batch 2 and now, almost unbelievably we have reached the 4th batch.

The tasting note below is an exact dictation of what our (human) guinea pig of choice experienced...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose "There's juniper here, have we been making more gin samples recently? Honey too. Ooh and pineapple, mixed Opal Fruits/Starburst (fast becoming a classic brown drink tasting note), heather, passion fruit, blood oranges, a little toffee apple, lavender, grappa. Anise!... Back to pineapple, tinned this time, in syrup. Lemon drizzle cake, vanilla. Blimey O'Reilly."

Palate "Cracked black pepper first, but it's passing. Starfruit, kiwi, lime juice, fresh orange juice, a hint of paracetamol tablet(?), juniper, Cadbury's chocolate at the end there."

Finish "Slightly drying with green grape tartness and a hint of oak, Terry's chocolate orange, a little grapefruit. Increasingly orange-led mulled wine, which is lingering. Mmmm, I like mulled wine. I'm now obsessing about mulled wine but it's nearly summer."

Overall "That is frankly mental. It's so wrong... that perhaps it's right?"

Reviews for Master of Malt's Brown Drink (Batch 4)
Absolutely Delightful
This fourth batch is incredible! I prefer to drink it as a shot, and for two minutes afterwards my mouth is still finding all sorts of flavors and aromas from this Brown Drink. We Didn't realize it was nearly 100 proof the first time we tried it! We wish we could buy bottles more.

Wow
Enjoyed a bottle of this with a friend over the weekend. I'm pleased to say it helped us both sleep for a while and tasted rather jolly good! Ian and Been, Newcastle.

EERR! Dont know what to say!
As a normal single malt fan, thought id give this a go as a change. Wish I hadn't!! If you blended the various paint strippers from your local DIY stores you might get the same subtle nose. However, once it ventures into your mouth, you wish it had been the paint stripper!
Sorry some people might enjoy this blend of "stuff", but not me. Would rather have bought 2-3 bottles of cheap blended whisky from the local poundshop for the same price.
