Gran Duque D'Alba Brandy Bottling Note

Gran Duque D'Alba is a grape brandy which is aged in American oak for 10 years before it is bottled. These casks have previously held Sherry, adding further depth to the splendid Spanish brandy. The result is rich and flavoursome, with plenty of spice and sweetness.

Cambridge Whisky Nut

As far as Spanish brandies go in this price bracket, it's pretty good. Nuts, grape, and spice can be picked out on the nose and the taste, but I found it quite overpowered by fiery alcohol compared to others. If this is your thing, by all means do get it as this is quite powerful stuff. But if you're looking for those sherried notes with a nice balance of alcohol, the Cardinal Mendoza is simply more sophisticated and has a fuller taste in this price bracket. All in all though, the Gran Duque d'Alba is a solid brandy.
