Torres 30 Jaime I Brandy 70cl

I have been drinking this gem for over a decade now. It is imported to Australia by Negociants Australia, part of the Samuel Smith & Son/Yalumba group.

It is complex, rich, nutty, driven by fruit & caramel on the nose, along with that amazing & indefineable 'Rancio' character, with a fruit driven mid palate, showing signs of pears, spice, caramel & a pure, simple but delicious 'grapiness'. The finish is long, dry, spicy & moreish.

This has replaced many many different brandies to become my go to end of meal brandy. Warm a cognac glass, pour yourself a generous portion and leave to warm slightly - traditionally over a glass of hot water, but I find it’s quite convenient to rest on an open brewing cafetière of coffee. It’s not a Brandy de Jerez, so it avoids that sickly sweetness often associated with Spanish brandies. Highly recommend.

My favourite brandy and if you're a fan of sherried whiskys this is an excellent malternative. Christmas in a glass but not sickly sweet like some Spanish brandies.

Purely by chance found 4 bottles of Torres, 2 - 20 yr, 2 - 30 yr, bottled in 2014, bought all 4 at 50% off, the new purchase was to replace my dwindling Brandy stock for the cabinet, recommend a warmed glass, nothing else, but a nice cigar, a book by the fire, served by a one eyed lass with an egg in a glass el saludo

I've purchased a bottle of this a while back and it does not disappoint, so smooth and forgiving fruity but with oak notes that speak age, some molasses and calves leather but compared to Carlos it's very very different and is very sweet and I would class this as a dessert brandy. Deserves so much more recognition and been the winner of the World's Best Brandy 2015 it seems to have still not got its recognition ! Very complex and layered and if you are a brandy drinker then this should adorn your collection as I think you will be surprised and I recommend you purchase this it won't let you down !!!

I love Spanish brandy and Carlos is one of my all time favourites but I've never heard of Torres but I'm sure even if I buy this and it's a poke in the dark it will be nice, of cause it would be a GREAT help if the good folk a master of malt could contact me so I can compare notes over the solera ages brandies and grape types other wise it could be a hit or miss rather like a poke in the dark ! Urrghhrummm ppl at master of malt.......help needed !!!!
