Metaxa Private Reserve Bottling Note

The Metaxa Private Reserve is made yearly by the Metaxa Master, who selects the well-aged expressions of Greek brandy from the extensive cellars. Following this, he blends them to create the Metaxa Private Reserve, the cream of the Metaxa crop, if you will.

Metaxa Private Reserve Reviews

@ below disappointing…

I’m not a Metaxa employee of any kind and I love Metaxa so does my family. If you can’t pick out the layers of flavours and drink V.S.O.P cognac I’d like to know which cognac you’ve been drinking to compare this to be from oil barrels. This stands toe to toe with some of the greats at its price range and I’m sure other customers on here would agree but as taste is subjective and becomes more refined as experience is gained by drinking more brandy’s, Im going to chalk this one down to experienced inexperience on your part…just saying. This brandy is easily 5 stars at it’s price range.

Was given a bottle as a gift, was unsure as I'd never heard of it....once opened nearly impossible to put away, it was such a fine brandy. Excellent in every way.

Happiness in a bottle!

Please ignore the brain dead review from what I can only surmise is a former employee who was fired for watching episodes of Spongebob Squarepants when he was supposed to be emptying the bins. Metaxa Private Reserve is quite simply the most wonderful thing to come out of Greece since Trial by Jury. Without exception the nicest Brandy I have ever tasted. Ever.
If I believed in Gods I can only imagine that this is the nectar they would drink!
Ps. Not an employee.

Below disappointing.

Disgutsing. Like vodka and rose/flower extracts. I have the Private Reserve and today i found a 20+ year old unopened five Star Metaxa 1L. I opened and compared it and after already being disappointed I was even more since they dont really differ in taste. For me, Metaxa is a successful marketing company with a horrible product: flavoured brandy. There is no oak taste or barrel taste at all. So probably my Private reserve is a blend of up to 30y aged in an empty crude oil barrel. I hope Metaxa goes bankrupt. I guess many comments are from Metaxa-employers.

Connoisseur standard.

Don't bother with a Brandy/Cognac XO costing £70+, because Metaxa Private Reserve is far superior.
Exceptional, raises the bar so high.
