In the 1870's as phylloxera ravaged vineyards across France brandy distillers had to decide whether to distill very young wine grown after the epidemic or use old wine from before the outbreak called 'Grand eau-de-vie' from the time of Emperor Napoleon III - hence Grand Empereur was born.
This is an old bottling of Grand Empereur potentially from the 1990's.
