The World's Best Cocktail

The World's Best

The Handmade Cocktail Company's re-imagining of an incredible cocktail, now presented in 50cl bottles - huzzah! First created in a New Orleans Coffee House, it's now ready to enjoy in your designated cocktail-serving area (everyone has these, right?). The Handmade Cocktail Company's recipe for the World's Best Cocktail calls for equal measures of VSOP Cognac and a top notch rye whiskey, along with a dose of Peychaud's Bitters and a touch of high-quality Absinthe.

The concept of the ‘Vintage Cocktail’ range is simple – you get all the ingredients for a superb cocktail pre-mixed. All you have to do is pour it over ice, stir, then strain off into your glass and garnish (in this instance with a twist of lemon peel). Each bottle carries a stamp showing its year of manufacture.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose The faint hint of aniseed develops into something almost liquorice-like. Notes of grated nutmeg and Crème caramel. Elegant floral elements waft in after a minute, as does a spicy hint of cardamom.

Palate A tangy, intense mix of star anise, allspice and vanilla. Toasted oak, coffee beans and hints of red currants appear, alongside peppermint. Hints towards orange peels and Sherbet Lemons, with the anise developing familiar notes of Liquorice Allsorts. Oily and rounded.

Finish Long finish with aniseed drops, candied peels and lingering spices.

Overall Rather enveloping, punchy stuff with beautiful notes of spice and aniseed.

Reviews for The World's Best Cocktail
Way too sweet
To my disappointment this is not the Sazerac I know and love -- it is way too sweet! The only way to make it tolerable is to make it half/half with the addition of good rye whiskey and serve it on the rocks with a hefty lemon twist.
