Vintage Cocktails

A favourite of Mad Men's Don Draper, the Old Fashioned is a classic cocktail enjoyed the world over, and now, with the help of The Handmade Cocktail Company, you can enjoy one very easily in your own home. With a recipe of rye-rich bourbon and a secret blend of bitters and orange peel, the Old Fashioned is hugely flavoursome indeed.
The concept of the ‘Vintage Cocktail’ range is simple – you get all the ingredients for a superb cocktail pre-mixed, all you have to do is pour it over ice, stir, then strain off into your glass and garnish (in this instance with a slice of fresh orange peel). Each bottle carries a stamp showing its year of manufacture.
To serve, simply fill a tumbler with ice, pour in a large measure of The Old Fashioned Cocktail, stir, and add a twist of orange peel (expressed over the glass).
Rich, charred oak and sweet spices on the nose, with hints of blood orange marmalade and potpourri. Toasty vanillas, inviting rye-spice, lively orange zest and dried herbs.
Sweet, spicy palate entry with a thick, oily mouthfeel. Candied peels, gripping notes of oak and tart fruit. Hints of milky coffee, cedar wood and a touch of spearmint.
Long, spicy finish. Big notes of cinnamon, allspice and barrel char grip the tastebuds with lingering notes of blood orange.
A deliciously rich, spicy, intense Old-Fashioned.

Well well, a very cheeky fellow indeed. Smooth, luscious and heady. Much like the gorgeous young thing that purchased it for me. Hurrah!!
Do enjoy my bourbons and love bourbon based cocktails - this is wonderfully rich, spicy and full flavoured. And to the critic who much prefers Woodford reserve... I also love WR, but different drinks! My cocktail tip for WR is to add apple juice and lime juice...
I do love an old fashioned cocktail and this pre-mix come comes real close to the real deal. I love that you ship it internationally. Thank you!
Love when people stand up for them self's in the days off anonymous review posts. Oh yelpers. Keep doing what you do. xoxo Denver
Hi there, Many thanks for taking the time to submit a review, and we're very sad that you didn't enjoy the cocktail. Do please email customer services and we'll happily replace the bottle with something that's more to your taste. Just to pick you up on a couple of points here though: 1) We don't use syrup. The only sweetening agent is pure, natural (crystallized) cane sugar. The sort of stuff that gets made into sugar cubes. 2) There's no suggestion that one should just "pour it into a glass of ice and drink". The suggestion is to pour it over ice, and stir (briefly) before drinking. The brevity of the stirring is obviously a matter of personal preference. I like my old-fashioneds quite potent, but realise that many other people like more dilution. Finally - on a purely subjective note, I can completely understand why you wouldn't enjoy the base bourbon if Woodford Reserve's a favourite (an *exceptional* bourbon BTW - good shout). The base we've used for this is significantly higher in rye, spicier, and whilst it's actually older, it's also pretty 'punchy'. Like I said - completely subjective, I can totally understand why it wasn't your cup of tea, and we'd be more than happy to replace the bottle for you - I'm just sorry that it didn't measure up to your expectations.
