The Negroni Cocktail (70cl)
Ah, the Negroni. An immortal cocktail that, when prepared well, will knock the socks off of anyone. With that in mind, make sure you wear some socks you don't mind losing when to take a sip of the Handmade Cocktail Company's Negroni, because it is, simply put, stunning. They use a meticulously calculated blend of English copper pot-still gin, sweet vermouth and the all-important bitter apéritif to create this supreme ready-to-drink cocktail.
The concept of the ‘Vintage Cocktail’ range is simple – you get all the ingredients for a superb cocktail pre-mixed, all you have to do is pour it over ice, stir and finally garnish (in this instance with a healthy slice of fresh orange). Each bottle carries a stamp showing its year of manufacture.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Rich, musty aromas of a chef’s pantry, spices and fresh herbs. Hints of berry fruits (sloes and damsons in particular) develop, with hints of dried basil and olive.
Palate
Rich cherry and rhubarb, hints of juniper, gentian, mixed spice and a little oak. Becomes quite wine-like. Oily, a little lavender appears. Hints of violet too.
Finish
Long, herbal finish. Stewed fruits, rose petal jelly and a hint of fig.
Overall
A mouth-filling, intense Negroni with some truly stupendous flavour.
