The Handmade Cocktail Company have released their third batch of Antique Manhattan! Made with ingredients from the 1980s, this allows us the chance to peek into the past - like a cocktail-shaped time machine!
The concept of the ‘Vintage Cocktail’ range is simple – you get all the ingredients for a superb cocktail pre-mixed, all you have to do is pour it over ice, stir, then strain off into your glass and garnish (in this instance with a Maraschino cherry). Each bottle carries a stamp showing its year of manufacture.
Opens with Black Forest gâteau, nougat and dusty oak. A little bit of digestive biscuit here and there, before sweet, rootsy notes really start to build.
A big wave of rounded sweetness starts off the palate with cherry and peach. A slowly developing spiciness of green peppercorns sits in the background. Old leather, too.
Waxy orange peels, oak furniture and a juicy splash of raspberry coulis.
From the first nosing, this is clearly rather distinguished indeed.
