Cask-Aged Manhattan Cocktail 2014 (18 Months)

This expertly balanced Manhattan cocktail, based around a fantastic rye-rich bourbon accompanied by sweet vermouth and bitters, spent a year and a half in a Kentucky oak cask to develop a wealth of flavour and depth. That's right - this is a cocktail that has been aged in a cask for 18 months. Despite that lengthy rest, it only takes two ticks to serve this exceptional cocktail. Pretty amazing to say the least, right?

The Handmade Cocktail Company's 'Vintage Cocktails' are wonderfully simple to serve - simply pour over ice, stir and strain off into your glass and garnish appropriately (you're going to want a Maraschino cherry with this one). Each bottle carries a stamp showing its year of manufacture.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Gloriously indulgent with exquisite wine-like qualities, which carry deep wells of pipe tobacco, succulent dried fruits and spicy rye. Hints of blood orange and a fragrant waft of oak spice.

Palate

Very exciting notes of soft, juicy orchard fruits, vanilla fudge and freshly chopped herbs. Further on there are touches of Swedish pepper cookies, citrus peels and dark, decadent berries.

Finish

It goes on for a good long while, with jubilant notes of rich, sweet red wine, orange zest and a superb oak-y hint trailing off into the distance.

Overall

Intriguing and flavoursome, you could spend ages appreciating each aspect of it.
