The Fatman's team has gone and put a tremendous twist on the classic Old Fashioned recipe here. It begins with bourbon, but then they add maple syrup instead of sugar, followed by pecan bitters and a blend of botanicals. To top it all off, it's then aged for eight weeks! Brilliantly rich and flavoursome stuff, and superbly simple to serve!
I was really looking forward to this arriving having read the notes and others feedback. Bourbon, Maple, Pecan etc sounded too good to be true. Unfortunately all those flavours were overpowered by the orange which spoilt any enjoyment. Will probably end up giving it away.
Certainly nice. My expectation is of some spiciness (from bitters) and some orange flavour, which this lacks. So don’t expect classic OF and you will like it more
Fatman’s twist on this classic cocktail really is classic! They have certainly stamped there style with a modern version of this timeless drink.
The maple syrup pushes it over the top. Excellent modern Old Fashioned.
This is by far the best bottled old fashioned I have ever had. I have tried many others and nothing stands up to this one. It’s so moorish and well balanced with notes of pecan and maple. A must try and also made a perfect gift
