A distilled cocktail? That certainly sounds like something we'd like. The Crafty Distillery brings us Smokey & Citrus Distilled Cocktail, made with a base of Hills & Harbour Gin. Fresh smoked, torched, macerated and pressed pineapple and burnt oranges are added to the gin base and distilled, resulting in... Well, a distilled cocktail! A very intriguing and fruity tipple, which you can simply serve over ice.
As expected, rich charred notes intertwine with a burst of fresh and tangy citrus, with more tropical fruit sweetness from the gin base.
Enjoyed this with the addition of pineapple juice and lime served very cold or with ice. Not sure I got much smoke / burnt flavour but it was refreshing on bonfire night where I served alongside the smoky maple Manhattan for a real contrast.
I first got this as a present and wasn't sure what to expect, but this really delivers the most interesting balance of gin with real fresh fruit flavour. The smoked pineapple is nice and subtle and the orange is indeed very zesty. Too easy to drink!
