    Campari Negroni

A Negroni simply isn't a Negroni without Campari. The other two pillars of this epic 1:1:1 aperitif cocktail are, of course, gin and sweet vermouth. Unsurprisingly then, as the quality and popularity of pre-bottled cocktails is on the rise, Campari have produced their own bottled Negroni. It's made with Campari, London dry gin and, presumably, Cinzano Rosso.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Classic bittersweet fruit, juniper and herbaceous refreshment with a fraction of the effort or expense on separate bottles.

I can’t comment on the drink itself because it’s a Christmas gift, requested by my son, but most supermarkets had sold out, so was delighted to find it at Master of Malt. Of course it did cost nearly five pounds more, having to pay quite a steep ( I felt, for the size and weight of this single bottle) postage charge, but it came in good time and was very well packaged.

NOT a good way to get a Negroni

Initially thought there had been some sort of bottling mistake. It didn't look or taste like any Negroni I've had in some forty years (some better than others depending on gin and vermouth used but all recognisably the same drink). It lacks any Campari bitterness, way too sweet and looks like orange squash. Total waste of money.

Tasty but not the negroni taste you know.

Curious bottle as to who it’s for. The price precludes the avid gin drinker, or the first timer after the negroni. Flavour wise when I first dipped it I wasn’t sure if my order had been confused, and was drinking some kind of amaro/liqueur over ice. Tasty in its on right by too sweet, with not enough of the dryness of the gin or the bitter Campari flavour.
