25 Year Old Bas-Armagnac

“This is my first Armagnac, and I fear I may now be spoiled for anything less so far as brandy goes. Scotch whisky is my usual go-to spirit, but finding that most of the whisky I wanted was unavailable today, I decided to venture out of my usual area and this Armagnac caught my eye. It does not disappoint. On the nose I find pepper, oak, dried prunes and a subtle honey note. On the palate, all those flavors continue with the addition of some dark cherry, and the prune takes on a more aromatic, sandlewood character. The finish is fairly long, with the fruit, pepper and sandlewood/prune fading away to a dry, gently astringent conclusion. Like good Scotch this benefits from allowing it to breath and sit a while in the glass - the flavors just seem to get deeper and richer with time. This really is very nice!”
