The 20 year old chapter of the Darroze Grands Assemblages range of Bas-Armagnac. After this moderately long maturation, the spirit still has plenty of youthful vibrancy, though age is starting to show through refined tannins and sweetly warming notes throughout.
I bought this alongside a bottle of Delord 25, which is an established favourite of mine. Despite being significantly more expensive than the Delord this Darroze does not beat it, more of a case of the Delord being great value for money than this being poor though. The Darroze Grands Assemblages 20 Year Old has a strong rancio element to it's taste, a quality associated with age, so my guess is that there is some older eau de vie in the mix.
From the start, this smooth flavored blend makes one want to go for another sip just to repeat the pleasant taste. I'll be a repeat customer for this one.
