Papillon Grizzled Skipper Absinthe Verte 50cl

This absinthe hails from the Papillon Dartmoor Distillery and is traditionally distilled in a copper pot still with a host of botanicals. Locally grown wormwood and melissa join fennel and anise, and it's bottled at a high ABV to preserve its natural colour, imparted by Dartmoor bramble shoots. Enjoy this diluted with ice-cold water, dripped over a sugar cube if you wish. The name Grizzled Skipper comes from a rare tiny butterfly found around the edge of Dartmoor, and the folks at Papillon donate one percent of sales from each bottle to the Butterfly Conservation charity.

Why not give this a go in a Green Fairy Sour? Shake one part absinthe with one part lemon juice, one part mineral water and 3/4 parts sugar syrup with a dash of Angostura Bitters and an egg white (or alternative) with ice. Strain into a Martini glass and garnish with a lemon twist – delicious!
