Jade Oxygenée Absinthe Bottling Note

This absinthe from Jade Liqueurs is a rather intriguing expression, made with a selection of botanicals which include a species of wormwood harvested from the foothills of the Alps. It is then treated to a hot oxygenation process (which was thought to make it a more hygienic spirit when it was used historically - now it is just used to lend some unique character to the drink), and then rested for an average of three years before being bottled at an eye-watering 68% ABV.

Jade Terminus Oxygenée Absinthe Reviews

Un monument a la parcimonie...

A wonderful expression of the art of absinthe. The only thing that would make me hesitate buying it again is the rather cheeky fill level on my bottle. It’s one thing only filling to the bottom of the neck, but quite another when it’s only to the shoulder of the bottle. The glass is so dark that it’s impossible to see unless you hold it against a strong light. At £71.60 it’s not cheap so, c’mon Jade give us the extra couple of glasses there’s clearly room for!

The beginning of a beautiful friendship

This was my first bottle of absinthe, and what a place to start!

Strong but easy to drink and flavourful without being overwhelming, this is leagues ahead of that fluorescent moonshine served in Prague nightclubs.

One final note: my corkscrew shredded the cork. Absinthe's high alcohol content dries them up like a mother. Unless you get lucky or fancy decanting and extracting, I'd recommend getting an 'Ah-So' or 'butler's thief' opener.

It's a Jade, Need I say more?

Beautiful Peridot with tints of yellow. When Louched the color changes to a creamy light green opalescent. The aromas of Alipine Wormwood, fruity anise, and fennel are wrapped in a neat bouquet of Hyssop and other herbaceous coloring herbs. Drifting to the nose when water is slowly added, the wormwood opens up with notes of lemon custard laced with Luscious Ansie. Jade Terminus Oxygenee unleashes a big minty wormwood assault, leaving a creamy lemon balm coat around the edges of the tongue. A spiciness is picked up with additional sips. Very floral in the finish with the wormwood intertwined with a beautiful fruity anise and fennel staying with the palate long after the first sip. Very complex with each sip, offering a fireworks show of different textures of floral and herbal notes. This absinthe reminds me of Emile Pernot's Vieux Pontilier in some ways, but once the Jade Terminus is experienced there is no going back. Excellent

This was excellent! It well exceeded my expectations! I'll have to buy another bottle, mine is almost gone...

Matts review

A very nice absinthe which does not disapoint but the price is a little high for me to buy this often.
