A single malt whisky from the Dutch distillery, Zuidam, released under their Millstone name. This expression was distilled in February 1999 and matured American oak casks first, then finished in Pedro Ximénez casks. It was bottled in January 2014, just shy of 15 years after it was left to age.
Tried the first time in a trip in Amsterdam and I been surprised, at the first sip! With an addition of two drops of water, the strong of the alcohol gently let space to the taste of the PX aroma. I really like
AROMA Chocolate and almond toffy rise from the edge of the glencairn glass and greet the nose with a subtle sweetness reserved for the relaxing Spanish shores of old sherry country. TASTE Thick and warm the spirit coats the palate with lush flavors of orange, chocolate, sherry and almonds. Water greets the solar sherry aged wood nicely and opens the dark berry flavor hidden on the back of the tongue. Chewy oak is predominate with rich white grapes and oils. FINISH Smooth with lasting oil that relaxes the senses and lingers with hints of citrus and deep rich chocolate and fruit. Barries and oil remain long after the spirit is gone.
