The latest Yoichi single malt will replace both the previous NAS release and the remaining age statement whiskies. The change comes as demand continues to stretch Nikka's aged stock, with this new Yoichi Single Malt (made of of whiskies of various ages) aimed at representing this special distillery's direct-coal-heated, peated yet fruity style.
There’s a lot of fruits in the form of lemon, pears, and white grapes.
Tons and tons of fruits. Kumquat, pineapple, pears and citrus all come out. The citrus is a mix of yuzu and satsuma oranges. A lovely malt note comes through as well. Overall, it has a very heavy worm tub whisky texture.
Medium in length. There’s the slightest trace of acetone here. Some chocolate dust pops in here and again along with orange peels, bergamont, and kumquats.

Nose: Very fresh citrus sweet and slightly sulphuric. Palate: Initially dry spice almost tannic in effect followed by a gentle fruit that settles on the tongue like soil absorbing rain. After: Tropical fruit pineapple, kiwi and lime. Long balanced finish still lingering after you overcome a distraction.
Fabulous Single Malt! Smoke up front and notes of malt, citrus on the nose. Palate- Peat and smokiness not overpowering the waves of other flavors being revealed as you sip. Cinnamon, spice, ginger, then a seaweed note, giving way to citrus, honey, and juicy kiwi. Sweet silky qualities. Finishes in slow waves of plum, nutmeg, peat, and a salt note Wonderful.
A lovely single malt, really surprised
really enjoy the flavor. hope Yoichi could catch up the production and offer age statement whisky again in the near future.
Amazing. I am nursing a bottle I picked up in rural Japan, and great up front. The finish is a bit weak, but right now my favourite of the affordable Japanese whiskies.
