The latest Yoichi single malt will replace both the previous NAS release and the remaining age statement whiskies. The change comes as demand continues to stretch Nikka's aged stock, with this new Yoichi Single Malt (made of of whiskies of various ages) aimed at representing this special distillery's direct-coal-heated, peated yet fruity style.
There’s a lot of fruits in the form of lemon, pears, and white grapes.
Tons and tons of fruits. Kumquat, pineapple, pears and citrus all come out. The citrus is a mix of yuzu and satsuma oranges. A lovely malt note comes through as well. Overall, it has a very heavy worm tub whisky texture.
Medium in length. There’s the slightest trace of acetone here. Some chocolate dust pops in here and again along with orange peels, bergamont, and kumquats.

Mellow and soft Smokey peat. Full of flavours swirling and changing. First bottle - love it. Long finish.
I thought I'd try something different from the usual Scottish single malts and I'm glad I did because this is a lovely smooth whisky with a perfect amount of smoke. Not quite as smoky as Arran's Machrie Moor offering if that helps. It's quite heavy and silky and I find it best without any water at all. This one is being added to my favourite's list.
