Yoichi 15

A delicious single malt from the Yoichi distillery, founded by Masataka Taketsuru in 1934. Taketsuru deemed the terroir to be perfect for whisky production, as this 15 year old will testify.

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is gentle and creamy with light fruits and a little nutty development. The palate is quite sweet with notes of subdued peat, winter spice and a nutty note. The finish is long and beautifully bittersweet.

Reviews for Yoichi 15 Year Old
Top top whisky
Bought a bottle a few years a go while it was still available. So pleased I managed to try this as its one of the best drams I've ever had. It was my first introduction to Japanese whisky and opened a new world of whisky to me. You immediately know this is amazing stuff on first taste.

Get some luck on your side and try this
Brilliant whisky. Was fortunate to try it at a restaurant that still has it. Has a caramel and smoky smell and taste. Just as good or even better than the Taketsuru 17.

One of, if not the best whisky I have ever had. The nose gives you notice that there is something special going on there... complex and smoky.
The palate reveals the complexity of the flavors, and supported nicely by the smokiness. The smoke is not overpowering, but plays a really nice sidenote adding to the complexity of the flavor. The mouthfeel is perfect, right where I like it to be. It has a smoothness that belies the complexity of the taste...

Overall, I am extremely pleased with this bottle and wish I had been able to pick up a 2nd bottle... they sold out in less than 2 days in my neck of the woods.

Fantastic combination of coffee, peat and that characteristic Japanese toffee/caramel tone.

very smooth whiskey with a sweet taste. has no burn with a peaty finish. no match for old pulteney 21 and Yoichi 15 cost more money
