The Wolfburn Distillery has got its third release in its Small Batch series sorted, and while it may be small batch, it's packing big flavours. Batch No.375 was matured in a combo of 100 litre first-fill bourbon barrels and second-fill Oloroso sherry hogsheads. The spirit was unpeated, so don't expect any smoke, but do expect wafts of floral barley, fragrant vanilla, chewy dried fruits and a kick of oaky spices. 5,500 bottles were produced.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose Honeyed malt with hints of heather and citrus blossom in tow. A touch of sawdust and straw.
Palate Sultana and dried cherry, peppery oak, very slightly chocolatey at points, with some waxy apple too.
Finish Layers of toffee and milky tea on the finish.
