Country Irish Whiskey
Distillery/Brand West Cork Distillers
Style Single Malt Whiskey

West Cork 10YO

Single malt whiskey from Ireland matured in first fill bourbon barrels. It's supposedly non-chill filtered at 40% abv, so don't be surprised if it throws a cloudy haze in the bottle even at room temperature. (Don't worry though - that just means all the good stuff has been left in!)

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Green apple, subtle stone fruit, nougat and vanilla.

Palate Less fruity, plenty of malt and a solid core of rich caramel.

Finish Long and warming with gentle spice and a hint of milk chocolate.

Overall A great bottling of Irish single malt.

Reviews for West Cork 10 Year Old Single Malt
Orchard fruits
Orchard fruits all the way. Light, fresh and smooth to start with, with lots of apple and pears. An easy sipper to warm up your palate and get the evening started. Interesting waxy texture. Definitel value for money.

Sweet
For less than €10 you can't go wrong with this really. Very sweet, nougat mostly on the nose and caramel taste for me. I prefer peaty whiskies but this is nice enough. You'll enjoy it if you like sweetness

Love it, back to Spain as soon as.
I have a bottle of ‘Seven Heads’ Irish Whiskey’ a brand of whiskey I had never heard about until visiting Spain this year.
Having bought a bottle I must admit, it is very mellow, and one that I wish I had purchased many more.
Although a blend, (Blend #10 Premium), as a whiskey drinker of many years and trying many, I think I could fool friends that it’s a single malt, being so pale in colour, congratulations to you for this beautiful product.

Yours most sincerely, Mr John Clark. March, Cambridgeshire. UK

A pleasant surprise
Just got this in from a new distributor in the area, pleasantly surprised by this one for this price. As a single malt Scotch drinker most of the time this is of course not nearly as heavy as what I'm used to but it has a nice fruity / grainy complexity while being smooth and a pleasant finish. Easy to drink. A real bargain for the price. It didn't say anything about whether or not it is chill filtered on the bottle but I think it tastes non-chill filtered because it certainly has that complexity that chill filtering tends to knock out.

My first Irish Malt
I specifically wanted to explore Irish single malts. This one's my first. I knew it's not supposed to be exactly like Scotch. The nose is fairly pleasant, I found crisp yellow apple alternating with baked apple, heather honey and rich malty notes, reminded me of Glenmo 10. I found it slightly drying and astringent on the palate. Not as interesting as the nose and the slight tart bitterness of apple seeds and drying astringency of the oak (and the lack of sweetness) eventually overwhelm the palate and crowd out the other flavors. This sensation, to me, continues into the finish. It has no unpleasant harshness of young whiskies but makes me think of those "tired casks" you get if you try sipping mixing blends (JW, Canadian Club, Dewars) - they overwhelm the palate and "take over".

I don't want to judge this malt too harshly, it's well made. I need to try more Irish malts. Hence 4 stars. I am glad I tried it but I'm not sure I'll buy again at the price - too many others to try.

Another fantastic creation from West Cork Distillers.
What a finish! Long and pleasant. Fruity maltiness on the nose, followed by punchy and full bodied plate with some waxy-crayon taste.
Real punchy Highland whiskey from South-West of Ireland, who would have thought?!

Fabulous
May partner brought a bottle back from Shannon. I never had Irish Whiskey, opting instead for a Single Malt scotch with a smokey/peaty flavor. My palate went wild for the smoothness. West Cork you have a new fan.

Ahhhh, Bliss!
Was given the initial bottle a a gift, it didn't last too long. Very smooth, full of flavour and a very comfortable lingering warmth to finish for those cold autumn/winter evenings. What's not to like?

Excellent, first time I've tried a single malt from Ireland, and I have been thoroughly surprised, the initial nose is beautiful full of soft fruits and sweet caramel, on the palate it's strong caramel gives you a nice warming punch of spice,
Such a long finish
