Hudson Baby Bourbon 70cl

Tuthilltown Spirits had the honour of producing the first legal pot-still whiskey in New York since Prohibition - Hudson Baby Bourbon! Made using 100% New York corn, the Tuthilltown folks mature the spirit in tiny 2 gallon barrels and treat it to some music. This isn't simply to entertain the whiskey as it sits stoically in a warehouse, the bass speakers agitate the cask and liquid, impacting the flavour!

This is a 70cl bottling.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Robust vanilla, new oak warmth, popcorn and a lingering whiff of sugared almond.

Palate Marzipan and candied ginger, with a thick layer of caramel on top. A touch of rye spiciness develops.

Finish Chocolate peanuts, buttered corn-on-the-cob and a light glaze of honey.

Reviews for Hudson Baby Bourbon (70cl)
Weird
Taste more like it’s been aged in plastic barrels not oak
Tried and revisited 3 times, every time it had this synthetic taste to it and really didn’t like it sorry

Different
The sensation of butter and roasted sugar peanuts stand strong throughout, in nose, palate and finish. To some I could see that being a positive consistency, whereas to me it was just different, with a fairly flat after taste. Saying that, it is enjoyable for a New York bourbon!

Lovely.
Very nice. My favourite "go to" spirit.

Spend your money elsewhere
Thin tasting and no complexity. It is young and aged in smaller barrels and you can tell.
For the price you can get significantly better Bourbons so invest your money elsewhere.
Nice bottle design though.

pretty good and not too harsh
this is pretty good. smooth and can drink on the rocks, not too harsh. One of my favorites to come out of New York so far.
