    Tullibardine 228 Burgundy Cask Finish

This is a delicious whisky from Tullibardine, released in 2013. It sees the Highland whisky finished for 12 months in 228-litre Red Burgundy wine casks from Chateau de Chassagne Montrachet.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Spiced, with notes of red berry fruit, vanilla and toasted oak.

    Palate

Creamy, nutty palate entry with notes of sweet custard, apple peel, red berries and orange blossom honey.

    Finish

Long finish with plum jam and allspice.

    Overall

Spiced and rich with a delicious influence from the red wine casks.

Very nice whisky... but it could have a longer finish

Realy nice, sweet, with the Bordeaux playing all its chords. It's a nice melody...but the finish is a bit a "quick", there's a lack of complexity, if I may. Tres agréable.

    Wow

Fantastic whisky. Soft creamy fruity. Great long finish, complex flavours. New favourite.

It's whisky.. And Burgundy... What's not to like ?

First experience with Tullibardine. Not my last. Bought this one 'cause I wanted highland and there were no Glenmo in sight. Burgundy finish sounded appealing. Never tried one. Glad I did. In the glass: Beuatyful golden to the darker side. Like apple juice. Good trails adheres to the glass. In the smelling-device: Sweeeeet wine, fruity and nougaty with a faint hint of the alcohol. It's very, very pleasant and changes are, you'll never get to drink it. You'll just sit and smell it. Great nose. The slurp: Little burn. Just to tease the tongue. Fat and creamy in the mouth. At first, nothing special. Then comes the fruites (my mind says strawberries), vanilla and something nutty. Not overly complex. The wear-off: Semi-long. the fruits/wine stays in the finis for the duration but nothing new happens. The verdict: At it's price tag, this is a gem. Though not overly complex, it's a very enjoyable whisky that is easy to drink. If you're into wine finishes (I am), this is worth a try. It will not be my last bottle of 228.
