Tullibardine
Launched in 2013 for Tullibardine's superbly repackaged range, this delicious 20 year old was matured in first-fill bourbon casks before bottling.
Cocoa butter and allspice, notes of vanilla creamy and candy floss. Manuka honey.
Honeyed, malty palate with vanilla and mixed spices. Orange blossom honey, allspice and pepper.
Long finish with gingerbread and porridge oats on the tail.
Rich, malty and spiced.
£6.34 - £53.40
Drinking it right now. It's damn good. Oddly, no nose to it whatsoever. Or rather, straight out of freshly opened bottle, almost a fish smell... which then disappears completely. But the explosion of spice balanced with vanilla and honey is gorgeous... and the finish really DOES turn into gingerbread! And it's so lovely that you almost don't want to take another sip and disrupt the lingering sensation. Love love LOVE it.
Purchased this Whiskey with my KLM air miles which were about to expire Fantastic Whiskey and better value than any flight I can tell you.
They are my favorite Highland distillery so I'm biased going in. The price is a bit lower than a 20yr old might be from other places ($140 or so) but based on my experience with 3 other varieties from them I took a chance on it. This is fantastic. I do enjoy peaty whiskys but this one a different animal. A complex bouquet of sweet tan flavors... caramel, honey, vanilla fudge, brown sugar, rum, and a touch of salt on the long-ish finish. So smooth. Probably chill filtered but it all works together so well I have to give it 5 stars and put it in my top 3 for $200 and under (haven't tried anything crazy expensive or old yet)
This is a truly insane globetrotter dram that swings from Rio to Moscow. The nose brings carnival-like peach, tangerine and Fanta aromas mixed with … pickled cucumber and ‘sweet macaroni soup’. Jumpy, sanguine temperament. Dried apricots, ‘Buratino’ lemonade, pine, resin. The sweet taste reveals Glenmorangie-like orange peel, chocolate milkshake and ginger.
