A gentle 12 year old from the Tomintoul distillery. This was matured in Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose is quite light and well-balanced. There are notes of chewy oak with a toasty feel, notes of sherried peels and sultanas, cut hay and malt extract and a touch of barley sugar. The palate is of medium-body. There are notes of winter berries and blackcurrant preserve, notes of gentle, thin smoke with notes of malt extract and crisp barley sugar with toasty cereals and a soft honey. The finish is of medium-length and well-balanced with a refined subtlety.

Expensive for what you get. Tastes young. Rough finish.

A very good sherry whisky for the price. I was not disappointed.

The subtle sherry finish leaves lots of room for oak and barley flavours. Also a faint hint of smoke that intrigues me. It's good for the price but in the end lacks the complexity to make me come back for more.

Thoroughly enjoyable. I found the nose improves well after a few minutes in the glass and has a nice sweet balanced taste. I also enjoyed the Christmas cake aftertaste from this dram. I'm a big fan of sherried whiskies and this didn't disappoint. Highly recommend if you fancy an easy drinking sherried dram.

I absolutely loved the Nose and the palate as it was very fruity, sweet and harmonious. The finish, however, was quite rough in comparison and I have to say it was not my taste.

The taste is quite new to me and I loved it. Easy to drink as well.

Was introduced to this via the "Sherry Monsters" tasting kit and it stood out as being, by some way, my favourite of the bunch. You can really taste the sherry in it, sweet and full-flavoured with a lovely touch of warm spice in the finish. I'm really looking forward to getting more as these sweet, gentle flavours are exactly what I like. This looks likely to become a firm favourite.

Not to my taste

This is a curious whisky. It is light and balanced with a medium body, true.I tasted something like almonds? I have to agree with the previous post. For the money, I'm wee disappointed. Not in my top 20, too.

Treated myself to a bottle on holiday. Reminded me of Knockando but had a strong aftertaste, much at odds with the "Gentle Dram" title. Nice, but I wouldn't put it in my top 20.
