Tomatin Cù Bòcan 1988 Vintage Limited Edition
Something a little different from Tomatin's Cù Bòcan range here. These smoky whiskies, which are named after a spectral dog that haunts the Highlands where the distillery can be found, have been released since 2013. Rather than using lightly peated spirit, which Tomatin now produces for a week each year, this 1988 vintage whisky has ben matured in casks that previously held highly peated Islay single malt. 2,200 bottles have been released.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Roasted chestnuts, followed by a good whiff of heather and rosemary. Lighter hints of caramelised barley brings sweetness.
Palate
Smoke is persistent, with underlying hints of peach, almond and creamy vanilla.
Finish
After Eight Mints and a final few campfire embers.
