Tomatin 18yo Sherry Cask Bottling Note

An 18 year old from the Tomatin distillery, finished in Spanish oak Oloroso sherry butts.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is quite punchy and of good body. There are notes of chewy grape and sultana with winter spice; cloves and cinnamon. There are notes of vanilla fudge and a most supple of smokes, weaving gracefully in cut grasses and apple peels. The palate is quite sweet and full. There are notes of barley sugar and honeycomb. Hints of chocolate orange and cocoa dusted liberally on toasty oak. The finish is long and powerful with a dry, chewy oak and a touch of pepper.

Exceptional dram, one of the best 18 year old out there

13th December 2020

superior dram for the sherried connoisseur this..

Deep, sherried nose and this continues in mouth.
Any sherry lover will love this.. It's marvellous stuff.
Oloroso casks so fairly sweet but nowt wrong with sweet sultanas and raisins. A bit of orange in this, and i would say honey too as you'd expect.
Very smooth and a good long warming finish. anyone disappointed is a hard to please person indeed .

Rich and full of flavour

This is one of the best from Tomatin, it is complex and full of rich, fairly sweet flavour with subtle spice and oak. It has a nice mouthfeel. First pour needs a few minutes to breathe.

One of my favourites

I always enjoy drinking this whisky and make sure that I keep one in my stock. The sherry notes are perfect for me. If you enjoy sherry whisky, give this one a chance. You won’t be disappointed.

Smooth and soft taste

Amazing taste , you can’t taste the alcohol in this if you take the 14 year old there is a strong alcoholic tast to it...

Excellent 18yo

Picked up a bottle for $100 after reading reviews. Being the only 18 ive had except JW Platinum and Chivas 18. I was suprised at how much better it was then the 12yo Tomatin. On the palate i get a dark caramel note with spiced oak in the background. Touch of citrus comes through at the end. Finish is long with more spices and honey at the end. All and all i was very happy with it and would recommend to anyone who likes a rich complex scotch. Not as smooth as a Glenfarclas 21 but much more flavor to offer.

Excellent especially for the price point

Love this one, I find it Exactly comparable to the Glenfiddich 18, but with a better finish for half the price. I pay $73 with tax in New Jersey. 46% abv is also a huge plus.
