Cù Bòcan Creation #3
It's the third release in Tomatin's Cù Bòcan Creation series, which sees the lightly peated single malt aged in a variety of intriguing casks. This particular release is really rather interesting, as it was aged in a combination of Moroccan Cabernet Sauvignon and North American rye casks – a combo we don't believe we've ever seen before! Fascinating stuff, mixing the fruitiness of the wine with the spiciness of the rye, all wrapped up in waves of caramel and smoke.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Baked apple and cooked strawberry, cumin powder, anise, cedar and a smidge of cask char.
Palate
Rounded notes of treacle and peach, with some citrus acidity growing. A smidge of salinity offers a welcome balance.
Finish
Peppery, with a hint of paprika too. Still has brown sugar and warm fruit sweetness lingering.
