One of a pair of Tobermory 20 year olds released in early 2016 by Murray McDavid. This one spent its time in three cask types - a bourbon barrel, a Sherry hogshead and finally a Vosne-Romanée red wine cask. The eventual outturn was 350 bottles at 46%.
Purfumed with wood spices still evident from its childhood in American oak.
Dried fruit, prunes and rich, spicy florals.
Dried herbs and vinous orchard fruit.

A fantastic dram. The maturation in wine cask is quite evident. Sherry on the nose Dry fruits on the palate. Rich. Grand. Finish is long. Quite structured. The distant wine flavour adds oomph. Not sweet. A mild coffee-ish taste in the end. I am a sherry cask matured whisky fan. But I found this to be a delight to drink.
