Tobermory 12 Year Old Bottling Note

Released in early 2019, this 12 year old single malt from Tobermory was launched in celebration of the distillery returning to life after a two year break! This expression slumbered peacefully in American oak casks for a dozen years before being bottled at 46.3% ABV. What a way to get back in the swing of things!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Pear, peach and apple, with a dusting of brown sugar. Greek yogurt, barley and a hint of cinnamon pastries.

Palate: Rounded malt notes once again, now a touch oily. Still packs a hearty helping of stone fruit sweetness.

Finish: A flash of orange peel, soft sawdust, toffee and dates.

Tobermory 12 Year Old Reviews

Superb Isle of Mull 83/100

This is a gem: a superb dram: - It has a perfect sweet bourbony nose, tempting to taste, toffee, some hints of dried fruit & even a touch of salt, deep into the finish, which actually finishes a touch sugary! Love them @ 46%; this one has so much going on.
I will buy it again & absolutely recommend this: A first for me (Isle of Mull) 👍
N - Sweet & floral - my favourite nosing word is "inviting"!
Very much so here. Alluring!!
P - No disappointment! - Sherry; & beautifully full bodied & creamy - malty - the 46.3% shows itself as a gentle spice - ginger, pepper, clove!
got a citrusy feel then it turned bitter / salty - nothing unpleasant!
F - Orange peel, drying, oak - bourbon? A sweet wood returns - Med to Long.

My new favorite

Light color but strong milk chocolate flavor.
Good structure body , Taste so good, like a candy shop explode in nose.

I just love it

My initial impression was not good - a bit sour and salty, and a shock to the tastebuds.
But by the end of the first glass I was beginning to appreciate it more, and a week and a few glasses later I just love it!
It has a very long finish, that mellows as you savour the last drops - all sharpness gone! As another reviewer says - the more you drink the better it tastes - I totally agree.

Super alternative the the Deanston 12 !

Just as sweet and syrupy as its Highland cousin. Treacle-y, honey-like, big bourbon character.
Fresh zesty maltiness.
Supremely delicious stuff!

Need to buy a second

Had to put this at the back of my whisky cupboard because it was disappearing too fast. Fantastic and very distinct taste.

As fine as the finest cognac.

Cognac-like, distinctly. Sweet and syrupy. Grape-like.
Decanter scotch, and that's complementary.

Very nice indeed

I was a big fan of the easy-drinking 10 yo, which I've missed, but the 12 yo has not disappointed. Orchard fruits with a touch of citrus, spice and caramel to finish. Lovely.

very moreish

Some caramel and sea salt and a little vanilla further in...Quite creamy with pears and a touch of spice initially . Then the peppery spice kicks in, but keeps the fruitiness in tandem and moves to finish of a slighty sour but zingy finale. finish is medium long, and the fruit is always there to help balance the pepper.
rather good this actually; im impressed as its first Tobermory ive had for a good while and wasnt overly taken with their 10yr old.

no water needed imo and the more you drink the better it tastes... i dare say that makes it moreish.

Keep coming back to this

This is a favourite of mine, never disappoints. Wonderful complexity for its age, simply delicious.

On my fourth bottle atm, will be back for more.
