Tobermory 12 Year Old

Released in early 2019, this 12 year old single malt from Tobermory was launched in celebration of the distillery returning to life after a two year break! This expression slumbered peacefully in American oak casks for a dozen years before being bottled at 46.3% ABV. What a way to get back in the swing of things!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Pear, peach and apple, with a dusting of brown sugar. Greek yogurt, barley and a hint of cinnamon pastries.

Palate Rounded malt notes once again, now a touch oily. Still packs a hearty helping of stone fruit sweetness.

Finish A flash of orange peel, soft sawdust, toffee and dates.

Reviews for Tobermory 12 Year Old
Awesome
Tobermory/Ledaig duo is what you need to bring someone new into the world of scotch because they best encapsulate the variety of flavours. Toby 12 is very smooth and rounded, sweet, but also dry. I get a bit if sherry influence though it matured only in ex bourbon casks. Very nice, long finish. Excellent quality whisky.

Spirit heavy
Without the peat of Ledaig, I found this very spirit forward, but not much else going on. I wouldn't quite call it bland, but it was close

Beautiful
For me, it's a toss up between the Arran 10yo and this most evenings. Lovely stuff.

Great whisky but no voucher!
This is my favourite malt whisky and never fails to delight. Delivery was very quick despite being close to Christmas, and even gave a 2 hour delivery window on the day of delivery. One small point was that despite buying three different bottles of whisky andbeing offered a voucher for ordering before Christmas, thie voucher was not received.

Tasty Tobermory
Not had this iteration of Tobermory before, but it did not disappoint. Smooth, complex and delicious. Very good value for a 46% 12 year old. Liked that the packaging was excellent and included the folded flat original boxes to allow gifting. Top marks

What free gift?
I ordered a bottle of 12 year old tobermory and never did receive a free gift as I should have. The bobble hat that was pictured next to it didn't arrive. The only extra I received was a voucher entitling me to money off next time I placed an order!
Hardly a free gift. Disappointed as on my email from master of malt it stated that a free gift would be received with every order placed until Xmas. The whiskey is lovely though.

A delightful single malt whisky
After recently getting into Whisky (much to my husbands despair) this single malt is the best so far. Will not disappoint.

A great example of a smooth whisky
For me this was 'fresh'; no complications just a lovely smooth drink. If you are a whisky drinker this is an uncomplicated single malt that will satisfy you. I really enjoyed it and will purchase more.

Like Drinking Smoke
If you like a smoky whisky then, for the money, you won't go far wrong. It's a gentle and unharsh (if there is such a word) without actually describing it as 'smooth'. It goes down easily and you'll want a second (or, maybe, more)
