Ledaig 20 Year Old 2001 (cask 285) - Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon & MacPhail)
Splendid peated single malt from Tobermory, this Ledaig expression was distilled in 2001 and matured for 20 years in a single refill sherry butt. In 2022, that cask was opened up by the brilliant bunch at Gordon & MacPhail, releasing a total of 498 cask strength bottles for the Connoisseurs Choice collection.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Cooked apple with sweet cinnamon and sprinklings of muscovado, smoky barley, and flamed orange peels.
Palate
Dense toffee and bittersweet cacao tangle, while sweet berry compote and candied citrus build beside hints of liquorice and murmurs of peat.
Finish
The spice arrives on the finish, with warming baking spice and woody clove. A touch of anise creeps in, while tarry smoke rests on silken caramel.
