Smoke and sherry - an excellent combo for whisky, and it's what this 19 year old single malt from the Tobermory distillery is all about! It's a limited edition peated expression released under the Ledaig name, and has enjoyed a finishing period in Pedro Ximénez casks before being bottled at 55.7% ABV. Brilliant as an after-dinner dram.
Smoke arrives first, with underlying Christmas spice. Damson jam and milk chocolate shortly follows.
Chewy dates, mature oak and a hint of oily walnut, all surrounded by earthy smoke.
Enjoyably peppery and warming.
