Ledaig 11 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
A peaty treat from the Isle of Mull, bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. This is a Ledaig single malt, produced at the Tobermory Distillery, which was allowed to age for 11 years before being bottled by the Boutique-y bunch with a rather fierce looking chap on the label. The physical embodiment of Ledaig with something to prove to those islands well-known for making peated whisky, perhaps?
Batch 15 is a release of 641 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Plenty of wood smoke upfront, then dried fruit, soda bread sweetness and damp grass. There's a little hickory and baking spice underneath.
Palate
Initially, there are preserved lemon, dark fruits and charred barley, followed by flickers of warm cinnamon and ground black pepper. Hints of smoked chestnut and peppermint add depth.
Finish
The meaty smoke lingers with a touch of chocolate and blackcurrant compote.
