Tobermory
Scotland
Single Malt
A 15 year old from the Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull, this was matured in Gonzalez Byass Oloroso sherry casks.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Medium-bodied and rich. There are notes of sultanas and Oloroso sherry, lemon and orange peels with feinty, honeyed cigar box hints with requisite smoke rising gently.
Full-bodied with notes of sherried peels and winter spice, crème de cacao and peppery oak.
Long and spicy with notes of walnut and salty melted butter.
Stunning really, probably on my top list for sherry bombs scotchs!!
Softly spicy, hint of salt and hint of smoke and iodine. It has individuality (own character).
Lovely, full, sweet sherry, fruit cake and spice. It's described as an "aperitif" whisky or a "dessert" Scotch...I see why but it's really too nice a Scotch to limit yourself to specific timed tastings. Life is short, the Tobermory 15 finish is long, so get stuck in and enjoy.
I really enjoyed it, I nice rich sherry cask flavour, with a light island character (Jura excluded of course, since Jura doesn't share the same characteristics as the other islands) the flaw is it a little oily, not too much, but enough that I would say, at $80 its a great find, at $90 Its a fair deal, at $110 its not worth it. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T PAY FULL PRICE.
This whisky is just fantastic !
