The third darkest and third most expensive bottling in the no age statement, sherry matured 1824 Series from The Macallan. Sienna is a naturally occuring pigment, referring not only to the hue of this expression but to the fact that The Macallan's whiskies are all released with no added colouring.
Nose: Noticeably bigger than Gold and Amber, orange peel, vanilla sugar and hot cross buns.
Palate: Raisins and dried apricots, ripe greengages, frozen currants.
Finish: Fruity and slightly spiced with a touch of anise.
Overall: This is where the 1824 Series becomes more intense.

May be the best shot I have ever had. Pricy but worth it!

This expression is so good! Extremely mouth watering. Flavor is intense, but the alcohol note is not rough. Sherry, milk chocolate, vanilla, melted mascabado sugar, red dark fruits.... My God

Just noticed one reviewer below saying selling a drink based solely off its colour is misleading and that they have put colouring in the whisky. Tut tut he/she clearly hasn't been reading the box and clearly doesn't know there Mac's as Macallan never use colouring in there whisky, there all natural colouring from the barrels and aging process. This is a perfect example of a Macallan and all Macallan's age very well compared to some other whisky's that take a lot longer to get the desired result there for command a higher price and yes there are some great drams out there but it wont have Macallan's style !. There unique !!!

Nice try Macallan - pretends to be a refined sherry casked whisky but can't hide its youth. Buy all the 12 yo sherry cask whilst you can! ...and of course anything older you can afford. There are always G&M's Speymalt Macallans that look and taste like great value alternatives to "factory" bottlings. I write this having tried everything up to the 25 yo sherry cask, and with 2 bottles of 30 yo in storage, so am a Macallan fan, but just can't see the cynical new marketing justifying the huge premiums over better and smaller distilleries' offerings.By the way, just visited the distillery a few days back - the place is like a massive building site and looks like hell - no romance left and has more in common with a lager brewery. Another reason to think about Balvenie and similar.

Best sherried dram I tasted.
1st June 2016
Had a few drams of this at a private tasting recently and was very pleasantly surprised. Very sherried flavour, great finish. Only 4 stars instead of 5 because of price. When I found out the price, I have had other, similarly great whisky for less money.

First time in my life I can't finish a dram... But I'm glad to see that Macallan's standards for NAS hasn't changed... Another typical overpriced, harsh and very young jewel.

Nicely ballanced with a long aftertaste. All the right flavours. Bottle did not survive very long in my cabinet. Time for a new one.

Nicely ballanced with a long aftertaste. All the right flavours. Good value.
Das Sienna ist ne Hammer. Ich will nichts mehr anders, Suchtgefahr. Meik

Amber is really good but the Sienna is almost perfect.
17th December 2015
Tastes very good at first except that it feels like it has a higher ABV than it actually has (a sign that it is not very old?), still pretty smooth. The nose and aftertaste are not very good. If you are looking to replace the now expensive The Macallan 18 sherry cask, look elsewhere, or at least buy a sample before you get a bottle./Joakim

Can't help but agree with the previous reviewer who says this is the best of the no age statements. If not on absolute terms then at least on dollar for taste terms.

Very smooth, full bodied without being to complex. Love the feeling on my tongue when i first sip it.

awesome taste with the familiar Mac profile....delicious and aside from the Fine Oak 17 and regular 18 this is my new fave!
26th April 2015
Of all the four new no age Macallans this is the best value for the money one.Still missing the character and unique flavor of the old 18 year old, its better than the 12 year sherry at equal or lower Price. The only 1824 I would recommend.

to Sell whiskey based on the color is highly misleading, they could put anything in the bottle which is why they do it, everything you need to know should be unbelievable most important of which is the age

This is a fantastic whisky and worth the price tag. I tried Gold earlier in the year and it wasn't good, but Sienna has brought me back to The Macallan. I will be buying more of this in future.

Tried a sample at The MACALLEN distillery in Scotland and thought it was nice. Just opened the bottle I purchased and poured a couple of glasses here in California and shared them with my landlord and his wife and they thought it was mazing. So smooth and creamy and full of flavour.

I tried this in a flight of about 15 others and ended up liking this one so much that I paid the higher cost to ensure it was the only think I drank (alcohol wise) the rest of the time I was in Scotland

Spicy, dried fruits, orange and peanut butter are prevalent in this dram. I was seriously impressed after the average Gold. Age statements are important, but quality is king, and this Macallan is quality.

This is what I have come to expect from The Macallan. Gold...tap water. Amber was a wonderful dram, but Sienna is superb. The nose, the palate, the spicy long finish....beautiful. At $155 Canadian, The Macallan Sienna - 1824 Series is worth every penny. Thank you.......allan

is rating a whisky before you've tried it. Feel free to complain all you like without rating, but some people use the ratings as a guide for what to buy. Giving 1 star because you don't like their marketing unfairly skews the average rating. There's probably no age because it's likely a mix of different casks of different ages. Even if it's 80% 18 years and 20% 10 years, by law they can only state 10 years, so it doesn't make sense to label it and have people unfairly judge it.That said, I have in fact sampled the Sienna and found it to be quite delicious. Fairly balanced with some good fruits, sweet, and spice. I'm knocking half a star because I can find equally good whisky for around £50.

Wow! This is definitively my favorite of the 1824 series. I opened the Ruby first, asuming that the most expesive would be the best. I was wrong. THIS is THE ONE! If someone tries to insist on age declaration, Sienna is the most similar to the Macallan 18 years old, sherry oak. Beautiful tastes & aroma mixture, not too hard, long lasting aftertaste. I love it to bits!
25th November 2013
is calling someone stupid just because you do not agree with them
2nd November 2013
I think this is a mix from different casks and ages, so no age stated. Basically, you can guess the age from the price. I mean, what age can you buy from Macallan for £64.64 ?
28th October 2013
Reviewing a whisky without tasting it and basing your one star on appearance alone. Stupidity.
20th October 2013
Until Macallan come to the senses and return to telling consumers just how old their whisky is, I am keeping well away. At £65 a bottle I believe I am entitled to know its age - Why are Macallan hiding the ages of their whiskys?
30th September 2013
Seeing how it was my sons first birthday I purchased a bottle based on various reviews and I will never look back, the aromas flavours and after taste that lingers with the sweetness possessed meant this will not be coming out too often, as I wish to savour every last drop!!
25th June 2013
At a recent tasting I found this to be my favourite of all the new Macallan 1824 expressions. Pipped the Amber with it's smoothness and the Ruby with it's finish - for me, this is the one.
