The ONE Signature Blend Bottling Note

The ONE Signature Blend, produced by the wonderful folks the The Lakes Distillery, features their very own single malt distilled in the Lake District at its core. It's then blended with Scotch single grain, and malt whiskies from the Highlands, Speyside, and Islay. A subtly smoky expression, this.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Toasted sugar, upside-down cake, honeysuckle and menthol.

Palate: A slow build of smoky spices and toasted oak, balanced by waves of caramel and citrus.

Finish: Nutty malt, stem ginger, orange boiled sweeties and cedar.

ONE Signature Blend Reviews

Ironically, not to be sniffed at.

This is not THE (crap) ONE of old. Completely different beast. It has such a beautiful perfumed nose (good call on the honeysuckle "chaps") , you don't really need to drink it, although that is also a very good option. At 46.6%, it has been overseen and finessed by the master distiller to the point where it can now be taken seriously. Subtly complex and understated - try it blind and fool your malt only mates.

Neutral and expressionless ?

Maybe it's my nose that hasn't developed correctly but there was very little smell to it. Maybe something of a faint, very faint sweet vanilla sponge cake with a distant note of peat in the far far distance.

The taste is mostly lightly smokey wood, maybe a bit of citrusy, but I don't know if I am actually tasting it or I am imagining it in there, the wood and smoke are the main dominant notes for me.

The finish is short dry wood.

Overall, this is nothing complex and it's not aggressive at all. This is clearly targeting at the fat part of the bell curve or someone who's starting out on the whiskey journey and wouldn't mind exploring into something with a touch of wood with an effluvia of smoke.
I really had to go hunting to get those notes back, if I were drinking this without thinking about it, it's would be really neutral but at this price I feel this is not worth it. There are other whiskies in lower price range that do the same thing or other in the same price bracket that are a lot more interesting than this.
