Style Blended Malt Whisky

Steel Bonnets

Steel Bonnets from The Lakes Distillery is an intriguing blended malt, made with whiskies from both Scotland and England! At the core is a hearty helping of The Lakes very own single malt whisky, supported by single malts from undisclosed distilleries. Enjoyably smoky, with balancing notes of dried fruit and fresh vanilla.

Tasting Note by The Producer

The whisky has creamy, slightly nutty & full bodied flavour. Notes of vanilla, ginger, nutmeg, and hints dried fruit. All held together with a sweet comforting layer of wood smoke.

Reviews for Steel Bonnets
Underatated, decent whisky with a touch of smoke and 46.6%
I like this whisky. It is underrated. If it wasn't blended it would be appreciated far more. There is nothing bland about the taste. It is a touch smokey which I like. I usually drink expensive whiskys but I always enjoy Steel Bonnets. At 46.6% you know you are having a proper dram.

Obviously judging by the reviews, not for the snobs
This is a very easy drink, nothing sharp, or uncomfortable in it, you could say smooth and slightly smokey with a warm heart and finish.
Single malt snobs will hate it, because it's a nice blended whiskey, and fairly priced.

Different for everyone
I had some of this over Christmas 2019. It was a hit or miss kinda drink. Everyone seemed to taste something different. Myself I found it had a smooth taste of vanilla while my wife said it was to "burnt" she meant smokey. I recommend getting the tester bottle first to see what you think. I found this rather nice to drink while chilling on the sofa watching tv.

Decent dram
It’s very difficult to review whisky as one person says 5 star excellent the next review is 1 star awful. Whisky divides opinion more than say a car or motorbike etc etc. I love whisky Classic Laddie at the moment and I’m a full paid up member of the 50/50 club. I’m in the 50% That love Laphroaig
There’s nothing wrong with this whisky imo. It’s a decent tasting dram and I’ve paid more for worse. It’s very hard to review as someone agrees and someone disagrees according to tastes. Try it

Such a disapointment
Because of my family heritage on the Borders, I so wanted this to be a great dram but the negative reviews are the honest ones here. This makes the very thin Penderyn Celt taste like the elyxir of the gods. No smoke. A stylish case and high price won't make it taste good.

Excellent but too pricey
Received as a gift, one of the best I’ve had in 40+ years of drinking whisky...
Unfortunately at the price I won’t be having another bottle...
Shame, .. I was hoping for a £35 - 40 price tag

Intriguing dram
Smokey undertones, dried fruit and ginger
Slightly short for £50, but an intriguing dram. Shave £5-8 off the price and definitely worth it

Not for me
Just tried a free sample minature of this stuff. To be honest if I'd paid for it I'd be wanting my money back. If you want an average dram with a smoky undertone there are cheaper options.
