Malt Riot

A blended malt from The Glasgow Distillery Co., inspired by the malt tax riots of 1725. The Government tried to impose taxes on Scotland's malted barley, which people protested against, particularly in Glasgow, where malt stores were barricades and excise men are chased away the city. This expression features a core of the distillery's 1770 whisky, and features other malt whiskies from across Scotland. Well suited to using in all sorts of classic whisky cocktails and mixed drinks, this one.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Freshly baked bread with marmalade, floral vanilla, a whisper of sawdust.

Palate Fruitier on the palate, with some zesty citrus and mango, shortly joined by gingerbread and amaretti biscuits.

Finish Lingering ginger spiciness.

Reviews for Malt Riot
Impressive blend

Not just a pretty bottle
It's a whisky that has a good backstory and a nice look but is also a good sipper, too. Not incredibly complex but certainly good value for money at £25 - lots of fresh oak and maltiness on the nose with good vanilla sweetness coming through and a bit of spice to finish.
A decent dram at a good price, will be re-ordering

Pretty, pretty, pretty nice
The marketing of this blended malt are what attracted me to it, a great bottle style and label with a fascinating back story. The whisky itself was surprising at first on the nose, almost like a complex red wine. Tasting I found it had a good hot of spice which smoothed out to a Madagascarn vanilla. - it’s been blended to drink over ice, mixed or in a cocktail

Missed the target
Stick to the Single Malts Glasgow Distillery Co. This fails to hit the mark. Blended Malts should be so much better. This is £10 too expensive. Sorry not for me.

Great for price point and its competition
Creme brulee flavours, good mouthfeel, makes the best whisky sour I've had.
