    Glasgow 1770 - The Original

Here we have 1770 Original Glasgow single malt, distilled at none other than the Glasgow distillery, which brought whisky production back to the city for the first time in over 100 years! It's handcrafted in copper pot stills (named Tara and Mhairi), combining Scottish barley with the pure water of Loch Katrine. The limited edition whisky was then matured in first fill bourbon casks, and treated to a finish in virgin white oak.

    Tasting Note by The Producer

    Nose

Dried dark fruits with tropical undertones on the nose, followed by hints of biscuit, oak and freshly cut grass.

    Palate

Sweet butterscotch with a crème brulee char on the pallet. Hints of freshly sliced pear, dried figs, dates and raisin with sweet almond, honey and creamy shortbread notes.

    Finish

A long finish of thickly spread orange marmalade, nutmeg notes underpinned by complex woodiness and a slight spice.

One of the best NAS I've tried

Took a punt on this, and I have to say, it's fantastic! Very complex flavour and nose - peppery, coconut, cardamom, tropical fruits - all without being too harsh, as some NAS bottles can be. Bottled at 46%, non chill filtered and natural colour. Very good for the price - will be getting another bottle!

Can't believe the price. Tastes like a 500 quid bottle

    Top Scotch bargain price

Just had a 3cl sample of this as getting right in to whiskey since turned 40 and I'm telling you now of all the whiskeys ive tried over last few years this is one of the finer ones. Really enjoyed it. Had a blantons original after as never tried that either. That's four times the price and we'll known. Thought 1770 was loads better. You will not be let down by this.

    overall, promising.

young and punchy this.. lots of oak, with dried fruits, and i think, mango. even with a half teaspoon of o2 it is still quite oaky. maybe been some european oak in there, but its quite refreshing. pepper stays all way through finish and remains on tongue. mouthfeel is good, and a little more age and this could be even better. perhaps a little expensive for a 50cl bottle, which i might add is quite attractive, although the cork had started to leach brown colour to bottle neck and had bits missing.(not so good) struth

    Unusual flavour entices the curious.

It tastes more like whisky than any thing else, but it doesn't really tase of whisky. A fresh, odd but familiar organic tone dominates the flavour and lingers on the tongue. It leaves the drinker wanting more to satisfy their curiosity. A definite talking point when drinking with friends.
