Glasgow 1770 Cognac Cask Finish - Batch 2 (Lightly Peated)
This 'lightly peated' Cognac-influenced single malt Scotch whisky marks the first time The Glasgow Distillery has married together peated and unpeated cognac-influenced whiskies. The Lowland whisky maker married three unpeated casks with two casks, with an initial maturation with first-fill bourbon casks followed by a long secondary maturation with French Cognac casks for three years and four months. The limited release was 2250 bottles total, bottled at 58% ABV on 9 April 2024.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose
On the nose experience notes of red apples and poached pear with soft vanilla ice cream, a dash of runny honey, and a hint of floral sweet smoke.
Palate
The palate is creamy and smooth with notes of toffee apple, poached pear, leading to rich salted caramel and baked apple crumble.
Finish
The finish is elegant and delicate; notes of honeydew melon, lemon zest and apple crumble accompanied by a light oak spice and a welcome wisp of sweet smoke.
