Teeling Single Grain Bottling Note

Irish single grain whiskey from Teeling! There are only an elite few Irish single grain whiskies out there at the moment, but Teeling went ahead and made theirs unique by maturing it in Californian Cabernet Sauvignon casks. Deliciously sweet with a good deal of spice and fruit hide within the Teeling Single Grain.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Honeyed apple flesh and red grape, sweet and slightly floral with fragrant vanilla and spice, evaporated milk and brown sugar.

Palate: There's treacle on the palate, but it's light and buttery with dried cranberry developing.

Finish: Into golden syrup tart and sweet egg custard now with spicy cereal.

Overall: This is a thoroughly enjoyable grain whiskey, sweet and fairly light but full of flavour.

Teeling Single Grain Reviews

Absolute cracker, one of a kind!

95% of corn in mashbill yet it desnt taste like bourbon at all. I did tasting today side by side with Small Batch and Single Malt amd to me this one is the best out of Trinity series.
Very smooth and buttery. Great neat with small drop of water and it is bottled at 46% and NCF. Mega!

Rewarding. Creamy and friendly.

Amazing whiskey. I think it is really interesting and refreshing change from Single Malt trend. Well balanced and inviting. Creamy/buttery on the pallet. 46% ABV as well.
In my humble opinion the best Irish whiskey in this price range.

Excellent

The nose - A sweet perfumed nose with a fruity undertone.

The taste, waxy smooth, sweet honey, lush grapes, pepper and wood after notes. A good lasting length into a dry pepper.
With water, a butter caramel nose. Taste - smooth butterscotch sugar heaven!
I'm buying a bottle this is superb

Get some!

I was sold on the 'oily mouth feel'. I know it's weird, but I'm into that.
This bottle doesn't disappoint... it's oily and proper tasty.

Cannot recommend enough.

Only recently turned on to this one after a recent trip to Belfast. Recommended by a very knowledgable barman and boy was he right. I genuinely believe it's the best Irish for the price bracket out there. Very easy to drink, so be warned, you can easily find yourself half a bottle in before you know it. The wine cask finish really shows, adding a pleasant but not overpowering fruitiness. Teeling delivers once again with bells and whistles. Drink straight.

A light malt but slightly sour finish

Love Teeling whiskeys. But I find this expression a little sour on the finish, I think its the lying in the wine casks. Might be my taste buds! Their Small Batch is a wonderful dram at a quite reasonable price, the 13Y/O with the calvados finish a drink for the gods.

Not for me but

you may like. Too raw taste for me who like more Scotch single malt (18-40 year old). However, you find special palette of this whisky.

Superb.

I have reviewed Teeling Single Grain before, but having just bought another bottle I felt it necessary to repeat the fact that this is a lovely whiskey, and the best single grain I have tried.

An unexpected surprise!

I tasted this at the Teeling distillery in Dublin alongside the Single Malt and the Small Batch, and this was my favourite. I'm a fan of American grain whiskeys for their character, but really wasn't expecting this Irish interpretation to be so complex. All three were very good, but maybe the element of surprise made this my favourite. It's just a little bit lighter than other grain whiskeys, and made it borderline refreshing!

This whiskey is a real treat, and excellent value.
It is smooth and full of flavour, only surpassed by the Teelings 15 year old.

Delightful.

Lovely.
Fresh and fruity with an enjoyable finish. This is something special.

Excellent bourbon

Had the pleasure of enjoying a dram of this following a tour of the Teeling distillery in Dublin last week; it is a very fine bourbon-style whiskey. It has the roundness of a good Irish Whiskey with the sweetness of a good American Bourbon.

Tasted first time in Shelbourne pub in Cork. I stumbled (!) on it during a break from playing trumpet at the recent Jazz Festival.
Bought 2 bottles to bring home to Yorkshire!
The taste & warmth are fantastic.

The Best

Gave a sample of this to a Scotch whisky lover. He reckoned it's the whisky of the year so far. I sincerely doubt you can buy a better whisky for the price. It's really drinkable & quite different from anything else.

Excellent!!

Recently tried two of your "dram" samples of this whiskey...it was excellent. Smooth with a bit of sweetness at the start and a delightfully smooth finish. This review is attached to my order for a bottle of this wonerful whiskey!!

Excellent

A real surprize package for a single grain . Comlexity and depth , the buttery sweetness at the start and the choclate / mint smooth finish . Tried it at a recent whisky tasting very impressed by it , brought a bottle for the collection .

Clean & Cool, Mint & Chocolate

Nose: chocolate Palette: cool mint, chocolateFinish: clean & cool, smooth || Great sipping drink for everyday drinkers for the price. Whereas many drinks are warm, this one is cool.

Wow!

Received this as a sample in a tasting set, and was wowed by the full flavor and complexities that can exist in smooth, buttery sweetness start to finish. I didn't have enough in the sample to find the dried cranberry on the palate, but perhaps I'll get myself a bottle and continue that journey. This gem is a 'must have' in my opinion!

15th December 2014

Oh man!

What a surprise! Very rich and complex, did not expect this at all considering it's a single grain. Lot's of flavour, spices and richness. Added as a favourite amongst other such as Aberfeldy 12 and Glenfiddich 12.

Breakfast Whiskey - Extraordinary

I had the pleasure of tasting this little beauty at a tasting with Stephen Teeling at the Soho Whisky Club before Christmas! I was blown away by the depth of the grain and flavour infused by the wine cask! Maize as a grain is the way forward! Loved his description of it as his 'Breakfast Whiskey'!!

15th January 2014

A great little grain

I was lucky enough to try this on a recent tasting. Considering grain whiskies generally lack the depth of flavour profile of malts, especially at the younger end of the scale, this whikey knocks that into a cocked hat. A great, fruit laden spicey dram from this 5yr old grain. Well done Stephen Teeling and the team and well worth the money. Very unique
