Teaninich 17yo 1999

When word reached MoM Towers that Diageo's 2017 Special Releases would include a Teaninich expression, we were near-aghast with anticipation. Official Teaninich bottlings just don't exist (outside of that one Flora and Fauna bottling), which is a crying shame as the independent efforts are quite sublime. This one doesn't disappoint: the 17 year old liquid is from refill American oak hogsheads and sherry butts, both filled in 1999, and the resulting candied sweet spice is a delight. Fun fact: the Teaninich distillery uses an unusual mash filter press instead of a mash tun in production.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Vanilla, barley and pleasant waxy character. A little water reveals citrus zest (and orange jelly), melba toast and melon notes.

Palate More floral with orchard fruit, some stalky notes and lemon tea. Fizzy apple sweets too.

Finish Fresh peach skin and gentle oak.
