Tamdhu is well-known and much-adored for its excellent use of sherry casks, and those of you with a penchant for single malt with heavy sherry influence will be delighted to know that the distillery's 15 Year Old expression continues that theme. This one has spent is maturation in oloroso sherry casks, resulting in generous helpings of dark fruit and Christmas spice.
Charred pineapple, earthy barley and a hearty slice of dense fruitcake, then some toasty oak warmth, orange zest and fennel.
Still packing heavy dried fruit notes, with a hint of orange oil and dried apricots cutting through. Earthy vanilla appears later on with touches of cedar, leather and cinnamon.
Warm and sweet, with waxy peels, clove, chocolate ice-cream and oily walnut.
Another terrific Tamdhu tipple!

It's a five from five. So good it won awards. Hide it once opened or it won't last.
I was lucky enough to receive a bottle on my 15th Wedding Anniversary last year and it's simply stunning! Fruity, warm, smooth, delicious.
Been thinking about buying this for some time and finally took the plunge. Pleasantly surprised. As opposed to others in this category, this one is subtle - it ticks all the boxes in a subdued sort of minimalist way. Nothing overpowering. Beautiful quality spirit (hearts only?) that defies its 46% Alc./Vol. ; doesn't require diluting. The heavy decanter-style bottle signifies the specialness of what it encloses - and it is NOT pretentious. I would put my self out on a limb and suggest that this is as good if not better than ANYTHING in its supposed class. 35 years experience - still learning!
Just opened my first bottle of Tamdhu 15. Wonderful nose. Added a little water, waited 15 minutes, nosed again. Sherry, fruitcake, cherries, slight aroma of marzipan; sultanas, raisins, orange zest. First taste: wow. Sherry to the fore; dried fruit, more citrus notes, some spice. Great mouthfeel, with a finish that just goes on and on! Thank you Master of Malt.
Had this on the go for a couple of weeks now and it just gets better and better. This 15 year old is an absolute stunner, rich and complex....give it time in the glass and you will be rewarded. Just add a small drop of water 2-3 ml and watch it open up......heaven.
